We didn't build an institution. We built a home.
When Stephen and Rosemary Mbogo founded ByGrace Trust in 2004, the "standard" model for orphan care was simple: large dorms, strict schedules, and efficiency. It was, in many ways, a warehouse for children.
They rejected that. They believed a child doesn't just need a bed — they need a mother. They don't just need rules — they need a father. So they did the only thing that made sense: they took 14 children into their own home, raised them alongside their biological children, ate at the same table, prayed in the same room, and dreamed the same dreams.
What started as a radical act of love has grown into a movement serving over 1,200 lives across Kenya — with three schools, a children's home, a single mothers program, and alumni now working around the world.
